Another Incredible Week in Taiwan, Special Thanks to Kuan Chen for taking care of us the entire time and always being such a great friend!! He was there from the second that we arrived in Taiwan to the second that we departed. He runs an outstanding Tournament as I only wish that many Tournaments in the United States could do it as well as the Asia Open as far an organization and preparation for a Disc Golf Event. Please support Kuan because he is really making great things happen for Disc Golf throughout Asia!!
Congrats again to Ken Climo for playing extremely well to win the 2013 Asia Open Disc Golf Championships, he played insane all weekend!! No one on the Planet could have beat him this weekend as he birdied 68% of the holes with only one course bogey for the tournament, even when we were battling back to get close he then threw an Ace!! He is obviously known for being a Phenomenal World-Class Player but he proved again that he can even shred with the 160-Class Discs as well.
2013 Japan National Team Championships – 158 pics and counting…
We’re getting ready for the start of the 2013 Japan National Team Championships tomorrow (Sunday) here in Oyama City, Japan!!
It’s 4 Players on a Team, our Team is Ken Climo, Daichi Inoue (2010 Junior World Champion), Koga Kazuhiko (Team Hero Disc and myself. 32 Team Total consisting of the very Best Players in Japan plus a few Americans…
We will pair up with another player on our Team for the first round (I’ll be playing with Ken Climo the first round) and the other two players on our Team will pair up as a Doubles Team playing Alternate Shot as well throughout the entire round. The Total score will be added from both pairings on our team. Next round we switch teammates and play the same alternate shot format until we have played with the other three members throughout the first 3 rounds.
So I finally arrived in Japan yesterday after a 11-hour flight and Ken Climo arrived shortly after. We spent the night in downtown Tokyo and enjoying some delicious Sushi for dinner at great rotating sushi restaurant…
It’s been an Incredible 2012!! Thank you to all Disc Golf Players, Fans, Friends and Family for your continued Support throughout another Season of Disc Golf!!
I would also like to thank all of my Excellent Sponsors throughout the year that have made it possible for me to continue to do what I do for a Living…traveling the World, playing and spreading the word of Disc Golf!!
So there has been a lot of sponsorship speculations throughout the off season, with lots of Players taking on other avenues in the Sport and moving on with other Disc Companies. With that being said, I will remain loyal and continue to throw for Innova Champion Discs and DiscMania Discs as they have supported my career for past 12+ years!!
As I still believe that they have the Biggest Influence and Promotion of all Disc Companies, greatly increasing the exposure rate of Disc Golf throughout the World!!
I’m also currently looking forward to… READ MORE
Disc golf is one of the fastest growing sports in the world, especially in the surf city of Santa Cruz, CA. The recent 2011 Disc Golf World Championships were even hosted in the Monterey Bay Area last year. Recently, the University of California – Santa Cruz Disc Golf Team qualified for the first time for the 2012 National Collegiate Disc Golf Championships in Augusta, GA. They’ll represent one of 40 college disc golf teams from all over the country participating in the event. This year, KEEN … READ THE REST

I’m also currently looking forward to traveling to Southeast Asia for the Japan Nation Team Championships in Japan and the 2013 Asia Open in Kaoshiung, Taiwan in January. Innova, Hero Disc, Disc Golf Values and E.Z.Flying are making this trip possible and helping to increase the exposure of Disc Golf throughout Asia. And there are several Big Projects and promotions in works for 2013 as we will all continue to push Disc Golf into the mainstream and make it one of the best sports in the World!!
Special Thanks to Innova Champion Discs, DiscMania Discs, Keen Footwear, Clif Bar and Co., Grip Equipment, Huk Lab, Disc Nation, ADA Fitness, Pacific Headwear and Birdie Bag!!
I hope many of you have already watched “The Gods of Disc — Epic Trick Shot Battle 3? on YouTube. It features ultimate superstar Brodie Smith and myself performing outrageous throws into basketball hoops and disc golf baskets. If you haven’t, you need to watch this video before reading how it all came about.

I remember the first time I watched one of Smith’s videos last year where he attempted — and completed — about 25 different throws into a plastic trash can from various heights and distances. He took multiple lines and made it all look very easy!
Being we are both extremely active on social networks, we communicated for several months and talked about the possibility of doing a trick-shot video together as I’m pretty good with a Frisbee, considering I have been throwing one since I was a kid. I also played ultimate at the University of Oregon for two years. Being we are both at the pinnacle of our respective sports, we knew we needed to make this happen, but he was in Florida and I was training in Santa Cruz for the winter. That made it difficult to make the connection. We decided to wait for a more convenient time so we could possibly meet up during the summer tour.
A few weeks later, he sent me his most recent video — a speed-boat trick shot he performed in Sydney, Australia. Smith threw a distance forehand shot off a bridge as a speedboat raced down the river. On the boat was an ultimate player, who did a full-extension dive, making the catch before landing in the water. I saw it on the first day it was released and it had about 250 views, so I made sure to post it all over Facebook in the hopes of getting him more views.
I don’t know about you, but these are the Best Instructional Videos for Disc Golf I’ve ever seen. Lets all make a concerted effort to thank DiscMania Discs and Avery Jenkins for these great videos. Hopefully this is not the end and a great show of support will encourage them to do more!
So here’s my latest Video Project that just released on YouTube featuring the Biggest Name in Ultimate Frisbee, Brodie Smith and myself as we compete in a Trick Shot Battle – Ultimate vs. Disc Golf.
