    New releases from Discmania 

    We are proud to introduce our two latest disc models: The P3 and the MD3. The P3 is somewhat of a hybrid between a putter and a midrange, a stable and dependable flyer that cuts through the wind and fades reliably to the basket. The P3?s best weapon is it’s versatility – it’s an awesome flyer off the tee and a great disc for putting too. For the fans of fade-in putters out there this disc is a must try.

    Reinventing the stamp design

    For this release we also really wanted to hear out what our fans had to say about the stamp design. Many of you guys have been requesting us to run the minimal and simplistic type of stamp we used to do back when we got started. For P3 we re-designed the D-line stamp and skipped the extra name we’ve used in most of our latest models. The disc itself is currently available with two stamps: The regular production stamp is available throughout Europe and theDiscmania First Run stamp is the one currently available in the US.

    Retooling for premium plastics

    This first release of the D-P3 comes with sort of a prototype configuration.

    A Wolf on the Loose 

     

    With the main event of the European Disc Golf year, the European Opengetting closer, we have released a new highly collectible fundraiser disc for the event – C-line TD2 “The Wolf”. The nickname and the graphic of this disc come from the series of carnivores that inhabit the Finnish wilderness. Previously in the series we’ve released the Glow C-line PD “The Bear”. The stamp of both these discs were designed by Disc Golf artist Skeet Scienski.

    The previously unreleased C-line TD2 was the perfect match for the Wolf in this release, since the TD2 is also known for it’s sneaky and quick moves on the fairway. The TD2 is best suited for anyone seeking to get more distance with less effort. It is a substantially understable driver with great glide. The TD2 is an optimal choice for a distance driver for players who throw less than 90 meters.

    Discmania signs Lizotte 

     

     

    On the brink of the European disc golf season we are extremely happy and proud to announce the new Team Discmania member: Simon Lizotte! Further introductions aren’t really necessary for the reigning European Champion and#3 ranked player in Europe. We are looking forward to a season that is undoubtedly going to be very exciting. Join us and follow Simon’s feats throughout the season.

    An interview with Simon

    The anticipated European disc golf season kick-off, Dutch Open, is just a few days away. It is also the first event where Simon will be representing Discmania. We had a welcome opportunity to catch Simon for a quick interview prior to the event.

    Q: How do you feel when you are now signed up with Discmania?

    Simon: Me playing with Team Discmania feels amazing. I really enjoy the new equipment and the teamspirit. I love the style and the people working with me now and believe we can do great things together in the future.

    Q: What did make you to choose Discmania?

    Simon: I chose to go with Discmania because I feel very comfortable with the team, I love the discs and the style. Just looking at the statistics, how Discmania has done in the past years, made me want to be a part of the Discmania team. I totally trust the system and want to help achieve all the amazing goals for the upcoming years.

    Q: What are your main goals for the season?

    Simon: My goals for this season are winning the German-Tour, the Euro-Tour, winning every german tournament I play, most Euro-Tour tournaments and playing the 2013 USDGC. But my main goal this season is to play at my best level consistently. I think it is important to have fun so I really want to do well this year!

    Introducing the Glow C-line PD 

    Out of the countless different mold and plastic variations we get requests for, the Glow C-line PD has been on top of the list for quite a while now. Finally we have good news for all you PD freaks:) out there. The Glow PD C-PD rolls out on Monday the February 18th in the US, as a limited fundraiser release for the European Open 2013. We are very happy to be able to release such a special disc, benefiting such a special event. By purchasing the Glow C-line PD, you directly benefit the most notable Disc Golf tournament in the European Disc Golf scene.

     

     

    Being our most popular mold, the PD is familiar to many of our readers. One of the best features of the PD is it’s versatility. We know a whole bunch of people who cover all of their driver needs with a selection of PD’s in different plastics and stages of wear.     European Open 2013

    As some of you may know, many of us here at Discmania are also heavily involved in organizing the European Open disc golf tournament. This year marks the 5th time the European Open will be organized and the city of Nokia in Southern Finland will once again serve as the hosting city. Widely considered to be the most prestigious disc golf event of the old continent, the European Open was the first PDGA Major event in Europe and continues to be the longest running Major in the European Disc Golf scene.

    The European Open Experience

    This year European Open Experience consists of 3 different events, all taking place within a 10-day period in July. These events are The European Open Preliminary, Disc Golf President’s Cup and The European Open itself. Between the 3 events there’s 50,000 USD cash prizes to be dealt out to those who drop the best scores in these events.     What’s ours is yours, but please don’t be rude… 

    So here’s something that’s been bugging us for some time now. We’re talking about photos. The unauthorized use of photos to be exact. Over the course some time now we’ve seen many of our photos popping up on many web pages that haven’t been given permission for the use of those photos. You see, although we are big fans of providing stuff for free to the people to help the sport grow, the same rules just don’t apply in the world of business. In business, true effort is is required to be able achieve something extraordinary.

    High-quality photos take a lot of work

    Let us take you back in time to the Stockholm Disc Golf Open this summer. That one being the most notable tournament in Europe this season, we wanted our team to be represented as well as possible in the tournament. So we did what a good sponsor does – paid entry fees for our team members, provided bonuses for top placements in both divisions and even paid a couple of plane tickets for our key players.

    All in all a pretty costly investment for a Disc Golf company of our size. But you know, we’ve always been big about pushing the game to next level and letting it show in terms of marketing. We believe we provide the best marketing in the business, you know the type that occasionally makes you say “Wow, I didn’t think Disc Golf was big enough for someone to do that”.     How’s your head game? 

    Most of the top disc golf players say that over half of the game of Disc Golf is mental. This culminates especially in competitive play, whether it’s about playing skins with your buddies or fighting for titles in the big tournaments. We felt that the subject of Mental Game had been neglected in the instructional Disc Golf videos of the past, so we definitely had to make an episode about it to our acclaimed Deep in the Game -series. So without further a due, here’s Discmania founder & CEO Jussi Meresmaa* sharing his secrets to a good head game on the course:
