Weekly poll up at Rattling Chains
We’ve been seeing a lot of talk about disc golf bags recently. And, of course, it made us wonder…
What kind of bag do you guys use?
There’s so many to choose from. Head over to Rattling Chains and vote. Don’t forget, too, if you comment there as well, you’ll be entered to win a prize!

None of those, I vote for Latitude 64 Striker

Todd,
We were figuring a Striker as more of an overstable fairway driver – you’ll get an opportunity to vote for it in that category. Maybe the least overstable of the overstable fairway drivers… but you have to draw the line somewhere.

Really? So Latitude 64 doesn’t have a mold listed because they do not have a “stable” enough fairway driver. I’m guessing the River is too understable to be considered “stable” too… hmmm. Well you heard em Latitude 64… this April 1st release better be STABLE FAIRWAY DRIVER … cause that’s what you’ve been missing in the lineup. I would really like to reserve my vote until this disc is released, but in the meantime…. it would be the Teebird for me

Todd – the Torque Monkeys win – Striker added to the poll.

Hmm, TeeBird is an all time classic, and of course the Cyclone. The Stalker is wildly popular and the Gazelle isn’t as widly used as it once was. The Viking doesn’t fit into this catagory, it came out after the Valkyrie and is pretty quick.
Gazelle.

Dion,
My thoughts on discs the speed of the Firebird, FL and Viking – is that with so many faster and faster discs being released that the category of FAIRWAY or CONTROL driver would be expanding or bumping up a speed or two… But your probably right – a Viking is definitely listed by Innova as a “Distance Driver.”

It’s gotta be the teebird hands down. The 11x molds are my go-to on any straight shot where I can’t afford to have the disc flip over and runaway to the left (I’m a lefty by the way). There are other drivers that do this well, for instance, Discraft’s stalker and tracker instantly come to mind, but in my 10 years of playing I’ve found the teebird to be the most reliable stable driver made. The older molds are so HSS they’re like a firebird, but offer much more glide throughout the flight.
Honestly, I’m a bit surprised the eagle wasn’t listed on here, and the Viking is one of my favorite discs ever made as well, but I wouldn’t call it a stable fairway driver. It’s fairly understable at high speeds, which is why I wouldn’t call it the best stable driver ever made, although if you haven’t tried rolling one before I highly recommend it! It’s one of the best roller discs I’ve ever thrown, it is really resistant to flipping over on its back, and it has a tendency to hold whatever angle you land it on. You can land it nearly vertical, and it will hold that line throughout.

Chris,
Was thinking the Eagle was much like the Striker – although not the most overstable in the bunch more of an Overstable Driver. And would show up in that poll being grouped together with Strikers, Riptides and Polaris LFs…
EDIT: We have now added the Innova Eagle to the Poll

What about the Discraft Tracker? That my goto stable fairway driver. The stalker is good, but a little on the understable side for me.

Another one of those molds that would show up in the Overstable Fairway Driver group. I think what might be happening is you guys with the big arms who throw these little more overstable discs straighter move the entire range of discs over to compensate for your ability to overpower the molds. Man, I wish I had such problems… That said I remember when the Trackers first came out they were supposed to be the “Longer Buzzz”. Of course if that was true… there wouldn’t be a Stalker right now.

I have only thrown the Teebird & Stalker (still a noob, playing less than a yr) I love that stalker it holds whatever line you throw it for ever!

A beat Eagle becomes a TeeBird. Best of both worlds. Just saying.
