First off, we hope you had a successful 2012 season and surpassed the personal goals you set for yourself.
Mike Solt (MrDiscGolf from PA) and I started playing around with TALKdg a few years ago. We kept adding things to it with Guest Writers, Forums, RSS Captures, Disc Reviews, Coupon/Discount codes… basically all kinds of stuff. It did everything but none of it well. It was bulky and not user friendly.
So we decided to revamp it with the goal of keeping it simple. Then it hit us. It’s all out there already – why make more of it? Let’s set the site up so when people added something new on their own websites they have a place to announce to readers, “I put something new up come read it.”
TALKdg is built on a platform specifically designed for group blogs with multiple Authors and Contributors.
We are hoping pros like yourself will want to participate knowing that you won’t have the pressure to have to post all the time. Let’s face it, almost every traveling pro has tried to start a disc golf blog. They all pretty much start off gangbusters and then after a short-while the posts become more sporadic and then the updates stop.
Then in the off-season the process of restarting a blog begins again.
With TALKdg there is no pressure to produce all the time to keep readership. The readers are being drawn to what we call the “Hub” where there will always be new content. When a Contributor has something to add they jump in. If they don’t have anything to add, there will be a readership waiting for when they do.
New posts on TALKdg will automatically migrate to the
TALKdg Facebook Page and
TWITTER Handle further spreading the word that you have added something disc golf related to the web. Heck, we even send it out to
TUMBLR for you.
So you could post an intro or summary of something you posted over at your own site or say a guest post at
RattlingChains.com with a link to go read more. Or if you wanted to announce a clinic you are putting on while on tour or that you have added two signed discs on Ebay – anything is a welcomed update at TALKdg.com as long as it is disc golf related.
Content is King. All we would have to do to get you started is have you register at the website, we then go in and change your permissions to “Contributor.” That gives you posting rights. You put a post together, it’s WordPress, so when you are done making changes to it you would mark the status to “Pending,” soon after we go in and “Publish” it and it’s up.
You’d probably also like to take advantage of our
Link List. Just fill out the form for each website you want us to include on our Link List – It’s FREE for a text link. So if you want to be set up as a contributor just reach out to us at
trotter@talkdiscgolf.com and we get you squared away.
Obviously we would appreciate you help getting the word out about TALKdg.com.
Thanks and Throw Well,
trotter
